Count Scriczevinsky: a Polish pilot, serving with the RAF. (20's-40's)
Countess Scriczevinsky: Doris, his wife. (20's-40's)
Sgt ‘Dusty’ Miller: tail gunner. (20's-40's)
Maudie Miller: his wife, a laundry worker. (20's-40's)
Squadron Leader Swanson: RAF officer. (50's)

It is a story of true courage love and loyalty, following a group of airmen and their wives during the course of one day. Set in 1942 at the Hotel Falcon near an RAF Bomber Command airbase on the Lincolnshire coast during the Second World War, it involves a love triangle between a pilot – Teddy, his actress wife – Patricia and a famous film star, Peter Kyle (her ex-lover). An unexpected and very dangerous bombing mission over Germany ensues, pitting emotional conflict on the ground with aerial combat in the skies.
